SING A SONG SUNDAY: WEEK 3
MILEY CYRUS – THE CLIMB
If I am being completely honest, this has been the hardest song yet for me to sing. Week 3 of Sing A Song Sundays included two cover songs, but The Climb was my favorite of the two. My boyfriend chose Miley Cyrus, and at first I think he thought I would sing one of her newer songs, such as Wrecking Ball, or Malibu. But, the song by her that meant the most to me was The Climb.
The Climb tells a very good story, especially for myself. As I struggle with everyday life and figuring out the kind of person I am/want to be, singing this song seemed right for me. It is a struggle for so many in the world to conquer the hurdles life throws at us, and this song speaks all about it. Just as I began trying to perform this song, my voice was becoming uncontrollable. The notes I once was able to sing, were not coming out the same. I did all I could to do better, but that day was just not for me. I, honestly, felt like giving up on this whole singing every week thing I created. After a few hours, I thought to myself; I can do this. I began thinking of the song as a lesson rather than a song to cover. Once I started to think in my mind what the story meant to me, the notes came out easier.
What I am trying to say is, don’t give up. Even when it seems like something is unachievable, keep trying. Practice makes perfect. Even when it’s not perfect, okay is good too!
I hope you enjoy this cover of The Climb and if you like it, please come back every Sunday for more performances and covers!
